Beginning Monday March 2nd, KRCC and Colorado Public Radio will be aligning daytime weekday schedules to provide public radio listeners with a consistent listening and information experience all the way from Wyoming to New Mexico.
This new partnership will allow both organizations to broadcast state and local news every hour, and will provide a continuous broadcast signal to Colorado residents along the entire I-25 corridor.
You can look forward to the following changes on 3/2/2020:
Colorado Matters will be coming to southern Colorado and KRCC at 9 a.m. weekday mornings. Colorado Matters is a one hour daily news magazine hosted by Ryan Warner which focuses on the state's people, issues and ideas. During the week of March 2nd through the 10th, Colorado Matters will be broadcasting from the KRCC studios in Colorado Springs, and covering topics that are specific to the southern half of the state, but which also effect all Coloradans.
From 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., it's 1A from WAMU in Washington, D.C.. 1A explores important issues such as policy, politics, technology, and what connects us across the fissures that divide the country. The program also delves into pop culture, sports, and humor. With a name inspired by the First Amendment, the show celebrates free speech and the power of the spoken word.
The Takeaway will continue to be heard at 11 a.m. on KRCC. Originating at WNYC in New York City, The Takeaway is a fresh alternative in daily news featuring critical conversations, live reports from the field, and listener participation, all of which culminate in Fridays coverage of politics with Amy Walter.
Here & Now returns to KRCC weekdays from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. A live production of NPR and WBUR Boston, Here & Now reflects the fluid world of news as it’s happening in the middle of the day, with timely, smart and in-depth news, interviews and conversation.
Longtime favorite Fresh Air moves to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Fresh Air is the Peabody Award-winning weekday magazine of contemporary arts and issues, and one of public radio's most popular programs since 1985. Hosted by Terry Gross, the show features intimate conversations with today's biggest luminaries.
Science Friday debuts on KRCC Friday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Covering the outer reaches of space to the tiniest microbes in our bodies, Science Friday is the source for entertaining and educational stories about science, technology, and other cool stuff.
The Daily from the New York Times switches to 3 p.m. The Daily brings you the biggest stories of our time, told by the best journalists in the world. Hosted by Michael Barbaro.Marketplace with Kai Ryssdal moves to 3:30 p.m. Kai Ryssdal gently raises the economic intelligence of the country through unorthodox stories, casual conversations and unexpected angles on the news.
