Mondo Cozmo (Josh Ostrander) has just released his latest album New Medicine. It’s a fine piece of work and hard to believe it's only his second full album as Mondo Cozmo. Just four short years ago, Shine was a #1 hit in the Adult Album Alternative format. But his success was nowhere near overnight. With two failed projects at major labels, Laguardia and Eastern Conference Champions, Josh was not about to give up. He reflects back to a leaner time when he was working two days jobs as a landscaper. Josh worked all day digging ditches and came home exhausted, but pushed himself to keep writing and making music into the wee hours. His tenacity paid off with his first true hit record.
Mondo Cozmo has been glowingly compared to Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. He is humbled by those comparisons and does not take them lightly. Growing up listening to those icons, they serve as inspiration on putting his passion, sweat and soul into his music.
Coming off a triumphant performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and the release of the innovative video for Upside Down during the pandemic, we caught up with Mondo Cozmo for a Zoom conversation including a few intimate performances. Watch the full video above.
