When someone is reported missing, police say the first few days are most critical. That’s when investigators typically circulate photos and gather important information while people's memories are still fresh. But when the missing person identifies as transgender, the effort to find them can be complicated... and that's if they’re even reported missing in the first place. There's now a Facebook page to help in that effort, as advocates work with police to try to improve awareness and response.
