Jason Thomas is the music director on Indie 102.3.

Professional background:

Jason joined Colorado Public Radio in 2020 after spending 13 years at WXRT/Chicago as afternoon/evening host. His radio career began at student-run KVHS in Concord, Calif. as morning host and program director before getting his foot in the door as a phone operator at KITS/San Francisco. What began as a minimum-wage, entry-level position turned into a full-time on-air job as the overnight/fill-in/weekend host. During his time in San Francisco radio, he also served as events manager for the long-running indie nightclub, Popscene. After seven years in San Francisco, he headed to KZON/Phoenix to host evenings and a weekly new music show. A sudden format flip after only six months in Phoenix led him to an interview with WXRT/Chicago where he signed on in 2006 as afternoon/evening host. He later inherited their influential weekly new music show, "The Big Beat," and served as host/curator from 2015 through 2020.
